MEXICO CITY, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will meet here on Friday with U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin as well as other U.S. officials, officials said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Previously, only U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was expected to meet with Lopez Obrador, as well as outgoing President Enrique Pena Nieto and his Foreign Affairs Minister Luis Videgaray.

Lopez Obrador, who will take office on Dec.1, said he called for greater bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries in a telephone conversation with Trump last week after he won the presidential elections on July 1.

"We really appreciate the fact (Trump) has decided to include the Treasury Secretary, because that shows he liked our proposal to cultivate our ties (based) on cooperation for development," said Lopez Obrador.

High on the agenda are such topics as the ongoing renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement, immigration and security.

The border wall Trump wants to build to keep out undocumented migrants is not on the agenda, said Marcelo Ebrard, who will replace Videgaray in the new administration.

The proposed wall has been the cause of sometimes tense relations between Trump and Pena Nieto, which has led to at least one canceled trip to Washington.
